Just in case you read some comments attributed to me in Marketing and Media 4/2010, I think Daniel Köppl got his notes mixed up. If there ever was a time when agencies hired people simply because they spoke English, as he claims I said, well that time ended when I started this search business, in 1994. After all why would you pay a headhunter, just to assess a candidate’s English skills? Ah well, it was Friday afternoon, and he was up against his deadlines. Maybe he should have called Jaroslav Míl of the Confederation of Industry instead. On Saturday in Lidove noviny he claimed that a second wave of layoffs is coming, and that “marketing people are the next to go”.
